Our
Story

In 2011, Friends of FAFG was founded by Fredy Peccerelli, Dr. Clyde Snow, Almudena Bernabeu and R. Scott Greathead with the original mission of supporting the efforts of the Forensic Anthropology Foundation of Guatemala (FAFG) and raising awareness in the United States about the impact of FAFG’s work to search for the Disappeared in Guatemala.

Through Friends of FAFG, the legacy of Dr. Clyde Snow (pictured to the left with hat) lives on. Dr. Snow was a world-renowned forensic anthropologist who investigated high-profile cases in the United States before being requested to travel around the world to investigate clandestine grave sites in Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, the former Yugoslavia, and many other countries. In 1997, Dr. Snow helped found the Forensic Anthropology Foundation of Guatemala (FAFG), where his victim-centered approach to investigating cases of enforce disappearance remains the centerpiece of FAFG’s methodology. Friends of FAFG honors Clyde Snow’s vision by sharing forensic expertise around the world and remaining dedicated to the identification of the Disappeared in solidarity with their loved ones.
